Kerith H Paterson
"Since you are like no other being ever created since the beginning of time, you are incomparable" - Brenda Ueland, writer
At age 11, Kerith begged her parents for a camera of her own. She long ago gave up that first camera, but her passion for photography never waned. In 1999 she established High Chair Productions (HiCcuP), which encompasses portraits of children, beauty, and weddings. It is her goal to keep her images fresh, unique and evolving like the people in them, and her art, like life, is a work-in-progress. She believes it is her job as a photographer to create strong, timeless images that inspire, motivate and invoke emotion.
Kerith is captivated by the tremendous vitality children have. From the moment they make their appearance, the little ones rule. Child portraiture is both a delight and a challenge that Kerith gladly takes on. She will crawl, roll, and lie down to literally get on the same level as her subjects to capture that special moment. She claims flexibility and patience are definitely assets in this regard. Somewhere between feeding and changing breaks there is a moment of inner beauty to be transferred to film. Kerith soon realized that inner beauty could be drawn out of adults too when their confidence is built with a good hair and makeup team. She began something she dubs "Try on a New Face": basically working with the client's wardrobe, doing a bargain hunt/shop, and showering the subject with attention at the photo shoot. The process allows all involved to flex their creative muscles and of course have FUN!! The most important thing to Kerith regarding wedding photography is making images specific to each couple. She enjoys getting to know the bride and groom, so she can ensure special items and moments of importance are captured on film. Her favorite part of the wedding day is after the ceremony and group shots are completed, and she is alone with the newlywed couple, when their true personalities display themselves best.
Kerith likes to shoot color film, as it gives the client the most print options afterward: color, black and white, &/or sepia (brown). Sitting fees begin at $150, weddings at $850. After the photo session, you choose the size and quantity of prints that work for you instead of picking from a fixed generic photo package. The negatives remain hers for quality control. Regarding birth announcements and other customized orders, shorter photo sessions can be negotiated. Gift certificates are also available.
She looks forward to having you in front of her camera!
